These Effective Habits Instantly Tamed My Life-Long Stutter
These execution methods will transform how you communicate with your environment …
One of the most difficult and time consuming tasks is to learn sets of effective habits that improve your communication skills. For years, I have tweaked and remodelled public speakers who had a life-long stutter. Although everybody has different sets of habits that they’ve developed, I found that these habits can instantly tame your stutter.
So here are 3 effective habits that will help you control your stuttering in any situation.
1. Focus on Your Mindset:
There are so many people who learn techniques and strategies instead of truly rewiring and reprogramming their mindset so they can speak more confidently. When you have a negative mindset, it makes you feel like you’re not effective and capable of producing anything in your life, when in reality, you have the power to change your thoughts and speak with absolute confidence. When you feel good about yourself, you naturally speak better, feel more confident and influence others. In fact, the thoughts that you breed inside your mind is an indicator of where you are going in life. So if you tell yourself, “ I’m a terrible communicator,” you will experience situations where that thought is your reality. On the other hand, if you tell yourself, “I’m a great communicator,” you will instantly scream confidence in front of others.

2. Look for someone that have been in your shoes
Throughout my journey of having a life-long stutter, I’ve tried speech therapy, expensive ear devices, toastmasters and even spent 15+ hours (everyday) trying to find Youtube videos that would help me reduce my stutter. But guess what? Results were invisible. Every technique that I learned wasn’t crafting the results that I wanted for myself. My desire was to speak with confidence, influence others, and reduce my stutter so I can seize more opportunities in my life. Although I went the traditional route, nothing seemed to help me. It wasn’t until I found my public speaking coach who taught me the core of public speaking. Everyday my coach kept me accountable and guided me throughout my journey because we were both serious about growing my communication skills. There’s power in having a coach because they keep you accountable, tweak things that you don’t see within yourself and give you a step-by-step process so you avoid pain, discomfort and stress. I will never forget what my mentor told me:
“You can be, do, or have anything you want and everything you want. All it takes is changing the way you think”
3. Without Action You Won’t Build Momentum
This habit is point-blank simple because without taking the necessary steps to learn and execute, you are forcing yourself to be stuck in a bubble. Rome wasn’t built in a day — each and everyday, they took small steps to build the most powerful civilization known to man. Which is what you have to do to reduce your stutter and speak with confidence. When I was learning how to transform my stutter, I would knock on doors and sell products because I knew that this would break my comfort zone. Each time I would knock on a door, my stutter would magically reduce day by day because I forced myself to get uncomfortable. When you take action to speak in any given situation — DO IT! Because it will allow you to become more confident within yourself. When you have the right knowledge at your fingertips — apply it and I guarantee you will see results faster than a vacuum on full power mode.
